Mother’s Day is fast approaching, but fret not, you still have a few days left to prepare for that much awaited day. If you’re a daughter/son looking for great activities for your mom or a dad searching for gift ideas that your wife will surely love, you’ve come to the right place.
And if you happen to be a mom, you could just pass these ideas on to your kids or husband to let them know these are the things you’d love to have on that special day of yours.
Remember, celebrating Mother’s Day doesn’t have to be fancy, it only has to be fun, meaningful and memorable.
Break from work or house chores
Yes, gifts and flowers are sweet, but sometimes the greatest present you could ever give mom is a time off from her mommy duties. Cook her breakfast and serve it on bed. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have her start her day with a restful treat? Let her feel you are under control and there’s nothing that would require her to step in.
An orderly house
Because it’s her day, she deserves nothing but the best, and that includes a clean house. When I say a clean house, that means dishwashers are stacked, laundry all folded neatly, clothes arranged properly, floors free of scatter and toys, and the list goes on. Just make sure everything is well-ordered. Mom will not going to appreciate a relaxing morning if the house looks like a mess when she gets up.
After the Sunday mass or service, the family can head out to a fine restaurant for a nice lunch or have home-cooked meals at the patio. Either way, let mom feel relax while waiting for lunch. Of course, if you’re eating out, mom should not be the one paying for it. A nice, relaxing lunch would certainly make a blissful Mother’s Day lunch whether outside or in your very own kitchen.
Sound nap in the afternoon
Grant mom a nap in the middle of the afternoon after a hefty lunch, it’s her special day after all. Because she’s taking a snooze, it has to be peaceful and quiet – by that, I mean no little or teenage footsteps padding in the hallway, no kids crying downstairs, or siblings yelling in the background.
A Mother’s Day would never be complete without a dessert. Treat them to their favourite bake shop and have them indulge in all of their favourite sweets. But if you are on a budget and she wants to tag the entire family along, you can never go wrong with a bag of donut with dipping sauces on the side – say chocolate and strawberry?
Taking mom to a nice dinner on or around this special event kills two birds with one stone. You make her feel special while also bringing everyone together to celebrate her day – making it more special. A dinner with the gang will probably be the best activity to sum the night up.
As with anything, remember the best gifts of all are those that cost very little but mean the world to them. And it doesn’t have to be mother’s day for you to remember your mom – show them how special they are every single day. Plus, try to give her a break more than once a year, okay kids and dads?
